How Important Is Planning In Business?

by tim on August 19, 2011

Remember when we were all at school from each day to the next we knew what we were going to do as we were all issued with a weekly time table each year. Well in business we have the same sort of idea, we call it simply a daily or weekly plan but yet that little plan can be worth endless amounts of money if used right.

If you fail to plan you plan to fail.

If you don’t have a plan how do you know what needs done daily. Never mind where you or your business is going year on year. Below I will give you two more quotes from Jim Rhon’s Treasury of Quotes it will get the brain thinking:-

I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than they do their lives. Perhaps that is because escape is easier than change.”

Jim Rohn

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.”

Jim Rohn

I will give you examples below of two types of plan first of all a gridded time and day plan. Also a to-do list this will help you gain idea’s for your very own plan.

Time Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturdy Sunday
8-9 a.m
9-10 a.m
10-11 a.m
11-12 a.m
12-13 p.m
13-14 p.m
14-15 p.m
15-16 p.m
17-18 p.m
18-19 p.m
19-20 p.m

This plan will always need to be looked at and refined just like any other.

A simple plan would be a to do list done each evening before going to bed so you know exactly what you have to do next day.

Example:

TO DO LIST

1. Go to bank

2. Call prospect to arrange meeting

3. Pay advertising bill etc etc.

This plan will need to be revised each evening and for the next day, even if you haven’t ticked off all tasks don’t worry just move them to the top of tomorrow’s list and make them priority by getting them done first and then complete the rest.

By using these two simple planners you will find yourself on the way to a more productive day, then week, then month and in turn a much more productive and successful year which is what we all are looking for.

To Success.
